Do you take my insurance?

All payments are out of pocket for wellness sessions, and insurance cannot be used.

For physical therapy sessions, the short answer is: we can work with any insurance.

Here’s the long story. I started Rooted PT as a mostly self-pay practice. We were considered out-of-network with most insurances. Medicare was the only insurance that we submitted billing to. For all other insurances we provided the documentation for you to personally submit for reimbursement if desired. You would pay for the visit up-front, and then depending on your health insurance plan details, you could get reimbursed some or all of the out-of-pocket cost. While our $140/visit rate is cheaper than other cash-pay clinicians, this is cost prohibitive for a large majority of the people seeking therapy services. That didn’t sit well with me; so we have worked hard to partner with the insurances that are most common in our community.

We currently accept and am in-network with the following insurances:

Medicare (and most secondary insurances)

Regence

Premera

Lifewise

Aetna

L&I (workman’s comp)

We believe in cost transparency as well as process transparency. When using insurance the amount billed will typically depend on what is done in each session as each type of intervention has a different cost associated with it. This gets sent to your insurance company for payment back to Rooted PT. You may have a co-pay (paid by you at each session) and/or a co-insurance (billed to you after a session). If you have not met your yearly deductible yet, the full cost of the session would be billed to you after a session as well. If you have a high deductible that hasn’t been met yet, it may be cheaper to self-pay up front rather than be billed the full cost afterward. When paying up-front you would get billed a flat fee per session. This is often cheaper than what gets billed to insurances (who set their own rates). Our self-pay rates aren’t meant to make us rich. They’re far less than a typical cash-pay clinic here on-island or on the mainland. Our goal is to make PT as accessible as possible while still keeping the lights on in the clinic. If payment is a concern, please just talk to me. We can figure something out.

There is a lot to take into consideration. Here is a script to use to call your insurance company to find out what your in-network and out-of-network outpatient physical therapy benefits are and what your payment can be applied to.
